
Thyroid Cancer
Thyroid cancer involves the growth of abnormal cells in the thyroid. Treatment includes surgery and radioactive iodine therapy.
Thyroid cancer develops when abnormal cells grow in the thyroid gland. Common types include papillary, follicular, medullary, and anaplastic thyroid cancer. Early stages may be asymptomatic, but symptoms can include a lump in the neck, hoarseness, or difficulty swallowing.
Diagnosis:
- Ultrasound, biopsy, and imaging tests such as CT or MRI.
Treatment:
- Surgery (thyroidectomy), radioactive iodine therapy, hormone therapy, and, in advanced cases, chemotherapy or radiation.
